A Taste of Alabama

Most of my couples host out-of-town guests at their weddings. And when travel-weary guests arrive, nothing conveys a warm Alabama welcome like a basket overflowing with the most delicious delicacies the "Heart of Dixie" has to offer. From sweet bites for snacking to sophisticated fare that will please even the pickiest palate, all the makings for a perfect do-it-yourself gift are right here in your own back yard. Below are some of my favorite local food finds - pick a few or gather them all to help make your event a memorable Alabama experience!

Buffalo Rock: Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, Buffalo Rock Company is one of the largest single-family privately owned Pepsi-Cola bottlers. Today it operates 14 distribution centers in Alabama, Florida and Georgia, servicing a population of more than 6 million.  In addition to bottling Pepsi products, the company produced Grapico in 1981, a grape tasting soft drink, and a ginger ale under its own brand name.

You are Cordially Invited to Be a Guest at Your Own Wedding

It's your wedding day. It is two minutes until you walk down the aisle. The flower girl is hiding behind the door, your Aunt Mary just left a bright red lipstick mark on your mother's dress, the best man is not sure he has the rings, and you are tangled in the train of your dress. Quick. What should you do? I recommend you do absolutely nothing.

If you're a smart bride, you've hired an experience wedding coordinator to handle the unexpected. You may be wondering, "What's the charge for such services?" That varies. What's the value of such services? If you're the bride, the only correct answer is "Priceless!"

Brides are busy people with busy lives. You already have personal and professional commitments before the engagement. Then you have to plan the most important event of your lifetime. Most brides understand that having a wedding coordinator is a valuable tool. Many brides however fear the cost of planning and coordinating services is beyond their means. They're embarrassed to call and ask. So they do it themselves. Or their mothers do it. Or a friend helps out. The groom is enlisted to perform duties for which he may have no interest, experience, or let's face it, talent. The stress levels mounts.

M. Elizabeth Weddings & Events offers a range of service levels from the very simple to simply everything...from "Day Of" services to full blown planning to help you orchestrate the day you've been waiting for since playing with your first Bridal Barbie. M. Elizabeth Weddings & Events will also customize a package that includes only the services you want and need.

So what happens on "the big day"? If I've done my job correctly, the bride is blissfully oblivious to everything but her own wedding day schedule. The bride wakes up, pulls out that schedule that I have prepared and simply follows the time line. The bride just shows up when and where my schedule says she should. At 6pm she says "I Do"; at 7pm she parties like a guest - no she parties more like a princess - at her own wedding. And that's it. End of story.

Oh, one more thing: She lives happily ever after.

Welcome to M. Elizabeth Weddings & Events!

Your wedding is about you - your dreams, your future. I'm just there to pull it all together, to navigate the 100s of potential photographers, florists, and caterers and to make sure you get the best quality for the best price.

I'm here to guide you, to make the day you've imagined a perfect reality.

After planning my first wedding, I remember how gratifying it felt that I was the one the bride and groom could lean on during their special day - when the details can become overwhelming. Since then, I've planned dozens of events, from corporate functions to garden weddings and elaborate birthday parties.

I know this sounds simplistic, but I'm a people pleaser. I want you to be happy. It would make me happy to help you plan the day of your dreams.

My goal in creating this blog is to not only showcase recent events M. Elizabeth Weddings & Events has coordinated, but also to provide useful tips and "tricks of the trade" to help any bride who stops by for a look.

Please feel free to join right in and follow along. I hope you'll come back often!

Love and Laughter,
Meghan Elizabeth
